Backlashes continue to trail the Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot for calling Nigerian youths “Children” during a debate about regulating social media.
Nigerian Disc Jockey (DJ) and maiden winner of Glo X-Factor, DJ Switch who joined the list of celebrities who have slammed the Lagos lawmaker stated that Desmond Elliot has proven that it is not about electing young persons into power, but the most important thing is electing competent ones.
DJ Switch called out the legislator representing Surulere constituency for speaking on the need to regulate social media and also for referring to Nigerian youths’ as children.
She also criticized Desmond Elliot for not showing concern about the unarmed, peaceful #EndSARS protesters who lost their lives at the Lekki Toll Gate but rather have issues with social media influencers.
Meanwhile, Desmond Elliot has since apologized for being insensitive and for the word he used.
In DJ Switch exact words;
“Desmond Elliot calling us children is very annoying.
“He is angry at the celebrities and influencers because they have a voice?
“He is not even angry about the Lekki Massacre. He has proven to us that it not by having a young person there but a competent one.”
DJ Switch released her statement after Desmond Elliot apologized over his comment on social media, and stated that he is 100 percent fully in support of the youths.
