The People’s Democratic Party has raised a serious alarm accusing the Supreme Court of creating a platform to compromise their verdict in favor of ruling party APC.
The supreme court decided to adjourn the review of the Imo state government election case to March 2. The supreme court announced the adjournment on Tuesday morning.
The review has earlier been scheduled to hold on the 18th of February 2020. The supreme court explains that the reason for the adjournment is to allow the parties involved to conclude on the processes that have filed and served.
However, the major opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the adjournment of the review. The party said it’s an opportunity for the court to compromise with the ruling party in order to rule in their favor.
The All Progressives Congress, on the other hand, did not oppose the adjournment of the review. The PDP said they do not trust the CJN Tanko considering his relationship with the ruling All Progressive Congress,
Recall that on January 14th, 2020, the supreme court of Nigeria sacked the PDP governor of Imo state, Governor Emeka Ihedioha and declared the APC candidate, Governor Hope Uzodinma who took the fourth position in the election as the elected governor of Imo state. The decision of the supreme court which was delivered by a panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko has been subjected to criticisms by the general public. The sacked governor, Emeka Ihedioha then file a case for the review of the judgment.
