The 2021 long vacation and summer period for students of Monarch Model College in Ibadan, Oyo State capital may have come and gone but the legacy of what they achieved will forever remain fresh in their memories.
Practically, the long holiday was not time for the students of this prestigious citadel of learning to solve mathematics equation but an opportunity to acquire some technical skills that will only excuse them from the burden of unemployment in the future, which also makes them to be useful, meaningful and productive to the society.
Monarch Model College has become a pacesetter by tutoring their students to think outside the box, the college does not only engage their students and pupils in sound education through chalk and board but to also contributes meaningfully to the reduction of joblessness in the nation by giving them useful skills that will defend them in the jobless society.
Our correspondent who was there during the practical session reported the high level of sensitivity in the students who did not only carry out the practicals without begin guided by their resource persons but confidently display with good tenses fluent in speaking while performing the practicals.
The college located at plot 86 & 87 Bolarinwa street, behind ECWA Church, police post challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State within the long vacation turned their summer period into Skill acquisition opportunity.
Speaking with our correspondent in his office, the Chairman Board of Directors of Monarch Model College Mr. Simon Kayode Adeyeye said “the present time in the country is only better to some people who had acquired skills couple with their academics.”
He said the current status of the nation will only benefit those who has gotten handwork with education as white collar job is difficult to come by after university graduation.
He said ” we decided to engage our students in skill because for future reference, giving them sound education is very good but we need to back it up with something skillful to enable them stand strong in the society”.
