The chairman Board of Governors,Tower of Ivory schools, DIG Udom Ekpoudom has declared his continued commitment in his pastoral way of providing humanitarian services, giving arms to the poor, raising men to the echelon of their destinies, and creating life changing awareness as Lions Club of Uyo, concludes plan to install him as President on Sunday, 10th October, 2021.
The Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, philanthropist cum education administrator made this declaration while filling answers on a media chat with top media personnels in his office at Tower of Ivory schools, Idoro Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.
Highlighting the stellar achievements of Lions Club, he synopsized that the club since its formation on July 7, 1917, has helped the poor, assist millions of people in the world who suffer blindness to get through eye surgeries, create awareness and enlightens the public on the prevalence and control measures of metabolic disease like diabetes as well as building hospitals to communities, while encouraging people with sound mind to grow and cling greatness.
The Etim Ekpo born philanthropist stressed that after his installation, the City of Uyo and Akwa Ibom State at large will witness magnificent social strides, such as empowerment, provision of modern toilets to primary schools and other auxiliaries that will aid livelihood.
According to him, ” Lions club is apolitical, founded with an objective to give to the needy and it’s not affiliated with any political party, be it All progressive Congress or People’s Democratic party, pointing out that the Club is beamed strictly to help human population.”
When asked on how he will be able to marry his responsibilities as the club’s President with his 2023 senate aspiration, DIG Udom Ekpoudom re-emphasized that giving has come to become a culture in his life, and vowed to maintain the objectives of the club.
Hear him, ” after my installation, I will assist the general society in providing convenience for Schools across senatorial Districts in Akwa Ibom State.”
Responding to the contribution of the Club towards the creation of awareness on COVID 19 vaccination, he harped that people should get vaccinated, and cleared the air that COVID 19 vaccine does not kill nor cause harm as purportedly rumoured by people.
The chairman called on all and sundry to churn out and grace the occasion as nothing is not set for his installation as the next President of the Club.
