Ex-Governor and Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, who was sacked by the Supreme Court in 2020 has withdrawn from the PDP governorship primaries in Imo State.
Ihedioha had returned to contest for the state governorship election coming up later this year as the PDP had lost the position on January 14, 2020, when the Supreme Court sacked him and declared Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election.
Ihedioha’s decision might not be unconnected to the stands of his kinsmen after some of them threw their weight behind Senator Samuel Anyanwu as candidate for the 2023 Imo governorship election.
The Mbaise nation comprising Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Mbaise LGAs had earlier passed a vote of confidence on Anyanwu, who is also the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ihediaoha’s withdrawal is confirmed in the letter written to the Party’s Secretariat as seen below
To me it’s not a bad decision
To me it’s not a bad decision but he would have been the best gov for imo state
To me it’s a nice decision, but be that as it may, he would have been the best option for Imo state.
