The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Karim-Lamido II constituency in Taraba, Anas Shuaibu, has been declared winner of the just concluded supplementary election in the state.
His victory was announced at the council collation centre by the returning officer, Bawuro Adamu Manga.
Manga, who is a lecturer at the Federal University of Wukari, said the total registered voters at the constituency was 77283.
While a total valid votes cast was 27,333, the number of rejected votes was 203.
The APGA candidate, according to him, scored a total of 7104 votes out of the 27,435 votes cast to defeat his closest rival, Bobbo Bendu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 6589 votes.
Out of the total votes cast, the APC candidate polled 6357 votes to emerge the third runner up in the just concluded exercise.
Elated by the outcome of the rerun election, the member elect, urged the people of the constituency to support him with their prayers and other necessary support so that he would serve them better.
He called on his opponents from the various registered political parties to join hands with him to herald the much desired development to the constituency.
He said, ”I want to use this opportunity to call on the people of Karim 2 constituency, especially those that lost at the poll to join hands with me and give me the necessary support so that together we shall lift up our constituency to an enviable position.”
