Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, said his administration would continue to prioritise welfare of workers, saying that payment of salaries on the 25th of every month will remain sacrosanct.
Makinde, who gave the assurance at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasigba, Ibadan, the state capital, on the occasion of the 2023 Workers’ Day, said his second term would be better for workers and all residents of the state.
The governor, while reeling out his achievements in the first term, said that workers’ unalloyed support made the exploits possible.
In his remarks, TUC Chairman, Olatunbosun Olabiyi, urged all employers to respect mutual agreement and collective bargaining reached with workers. He also stressed the need for workers to protect the interest of the employers.
On his part, the NLC Chairman, Kayode Martins, called for an upward review of the minimum wage in line with current realities.
