Chieftain of the people’s Democratic Party in Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom on Tuesday 2nd May challenge the action of the House of Assembly member representing Abak state constituency in the Akwa Ibom State Mr. Udeme Otong for producing only his family members in Abak LGA for the assembly commission job. He said the ongoing recruitment at the house of Assembly service commission is only for families of politicians.
The state House of Assembly member Mr. Udeme Otong who is currently vying to become the speaker of the House of Assembly submitted name of his family members alone for the recruitment process. The names include Etete Augustine Eyo. (Cousin), James Emmanuel Otong (brother)and Nkechi KiniAbasi Udeme (Son’s wife). The party man frowned at the silly attitude of the lawmaker, describing it as nepotistic attitude, he said ” look at someone that want to be speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, very self-centered and mischievous”
Newsieevents also gathered that the Assembly man Mr. Otong who is head to head with some of his ranking colleagues for speakership of the House last year recruitment at the University of Uyo teaching hospital secured employment at the health sector for his two sons in the medical field and currently they are gainfully employed at the UUTH.

The party man who refused his identity on the print while interacting with Newsieevents said the recruitment activities was strictly under recommendation by politicians especially from members of the state Assembly who according to him “even though the recruitment was publicly made available by a press release from the assembly commission, the slot was already shared among the assemblyman to employ their children, wives and other relatives”
Newsieevents also learnt that names of qualified candidates for batch A interview has already been shortlisted and the interview is scheduled already.
Efforts to reach out to the lawmaker Mr Udeme Otong proves Abortive, we drop him a text message but no response. We also reach out to his media aid Mr. Ubong Akpan who counter the claims. He said “although I don’t have intention to speak because I don’t want to be quoted but from what I can say the claim is false”
