The sale and use of the unhealthy Whippy mayonnaise brand has been advised against by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
According to a statement issued by the organization on Monday, July 24, after receiving a consumer complaint, it collected random samples of the product for laboratory testing, the results of which were unacceptable.
The agency went on to say that even though the food was still within its shelf life, it has turned rotten and has a color that is different from the original mayonnaise color. It was purchased locally from the maker in Onitsha, Anambra State.
All zonal directors and state coordinators have been instructed to conduct surveillance and clean up the involved batches of the unwholesome product, according to a statement by NAFDAC. The organization also advised merchants, distributors, and customers to use caution and diligence to prevent the consumption, sale, or distribution of the tainted batches of Whippy Real Mayonnaise.
