The national airline of France, Air France, has halted service to and from Bamako in Mali and Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
The flying ban, which is anticipated to run until August 11, was declared on Monday, August 6, just hours after the military junta of the Niger Republic said that the nation’s airspace had been closed due to the “threat of intervention”.
Air France stated that they anticipate longer flight durations from sub-Saharan hub airports and that non-stop service will be available between Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and Accra in Ghana.
The flight times for redirected flights might be between one and three and a half hours longer and could involve a fuel stop, according to Brussels Airlines’ statement to Reuters.
