Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has authorized free medical travel for the state’s traditional ruler.
According to Kefas, the king will watch medical tourism at any hospital around the world.
The Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy office in Jalingo, the state capital, made the news on Friday.
The governor’s generosity is extended to all traditional rulers in the state, according to Babangida Hassan, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, who gave a press briefing on the event.
“I am happy to inform all traditional rulers in the state of the gracious approval of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, for all the chiefs in the state to embark on medical check-up to various hospitals of their choice.”
The categories of the affected traditional rulers, as stated by the Permanent Secretary, are “First class, second class and and third class chiefs.”
“This is the first of its kind since the creation of the state in 1991. The leadership of the Bureau urges the traditional rulers to take advantage of this opportunity to conduct a thorough diagnosis of their bodies for their well-being in order to justify the resources given and reciprocate the good gesture of the governor,” he added.
Hassan added that traditional leaders must understand their responsibilities and support the government in preserving peace, security, and peaceful coexistence.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital, Emmanuel Bello, also spoke at the briefing. He said that the governor has placed a great priority on the wellbeing of the royal fathers in order to allow them to concentrate on reducing tensions in their domains.
