Nigerian superstar Rema has been named Spotify’s top export of Afrobeats.
The emergence of social media and the entry of music streaming services have enhanced the reach, funding, and market of afrobeats internationally.
Rema is one of the musicians whose worldwide success with “Calm Down,” which has topped charts on several continents, is expanding the boundaries of Afrobeats.
Global streaming service Spotify has named Rema, a Mavin Records signee, as the most important Afrobeats exported artist and declared her song “Calm Down” to be the most exported Afrobeats song.
Rema’s song “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez is at the top of the song list, which also includes tracks by Burna Boy, an international Afrobeats superstar, and CKay.
