Zaria mosque collapse: Kaduna CAN commiserates with Muslim community

The ancient and historic mosque in Kofar Fada, in the state’s Zaria Local Government Area, collapsed, causing the loss of life and injury to others, according to the Kaduna State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), which has expressed dismay at the incident.

The ancient and historic mosque at Kofar Fada, Zaria, suddenly collapsed on Friday, August 11, 2023, during ta’asar prayers, according to a statement released by Revs. Joseph John Hayab and Ma’aji Caleb, the organization’s chairman and secretary, respectively. As a result, many worshipers who were doing their required prayers died, and many more suffered injuries of varying severity.

The statement stated that CAN expresses condolences over the unfortunate incident to the Emir of Zazzau and all Muslims on behalf of the Christian community.

The association prayed that God would grant the departed Aljanah Firdausi and grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and graciously heal all those injured.
