Tribunal sacks Kano Gov, declares APC winner

The Election Tribunal sitting in Kano has declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of All Progressives Party, governor of Kano state.

The tribunal gave the judgement after cancelling votes recorded by the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP Abba Kabir Yusuf and adding to Gawuna.

The Lead Presiding Judge, Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadabey, said while carrying out judgment in the Petition brought about by the APC Yusuf Gawuna that the margin of votes scores by NNPP was not enough to give Abba Kabir Yusuf victory because most of its were invalid.

Kemi Filani News recalls that in the March 18 gubernatorial election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared that the NNPP polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat the APC with its candidate, Nasir Gawuna, who scored 890,705 votes. The NNPP candidate thus won with a margin of 128,897 votes.
