A petitioner, Taiye AbdulGafar, who sought divorce, custody, and maintenance for three children, has been advised by the court to be patient.
The woman, expressing her desire to end the marriage with Saadu AbdulGafar due to a lack of love, shared her plea at the Area Court, Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, on Wednesday.
She requested the dissolution of their Islamic marriage and sought custody of their three children, proposing that the respondent be responsible for their school fees and upkeep.
In response, the respondent expressed ongoing efforts to reconcile and continue the relationship.
The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, counseled the petitioner to exercise patience, acknowledging that every marriage has its imperfections.
Ajumonbi suggested considering settlement whenever approached by the respondent, as long as it doesn’t adversely affect her life and that of the children.
The case is adjourned until March 11 for a settlement report.
