Oby Ezekwesili Urges Nigerian Government To Allow Peaceful ‘EndBadGovernance’ Protest

Former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili has urged the Nigerian Government to refrain from spreading fear ahead of the EnBadGovernance protest set for August 1st.

Ezekwesili emphasized that the protest is a legitimate way for Nigerians to express their grievances about their current situation. She declared her support for the protest organizers in a post on X.

She wrote, “This relentless media propaganda by the @NigeriaGov and their supporters is simply because their poorly governed and suffering citizens have finally become distressed enough to collectively raise their voices and demand #EndBadGovernance.

“Your citizens are asking for good governance, and instead of seeing this as an opportunity, you are spreading fear in the land? Truly sad to see.

“At least one positive aspect of this massive propaganda is the clear evidence that The Power of the People is indeed greater than The People in Power.
“We need no further proof.

“The #EndBadGovernanceProtest is a valid exercise of the people’s right to peacefully tell their public leaders, ‘Enough is enough!’

“I commend and stand with the Nigerian citizens for showing resilience during this period of severe economic hardship.

“May our country experience better days now that the people have discovered their power to hold public leaders accountable.”
