The Mbeke Ishieke community in Ebonyi State has voiced concerns about the incomplete state of the $150 million Ebonyi Ring Road project, particularly the portion that passes through their area. The project, originally initiated in 1982 and extended in 2001, was supposed to ease transportation and support local economic activities.
Despite the completion of much of the road, the 16.23 km section through Mbeke Ishieke remains unfinished, causing significant disruptions, particularly during the rainy season. Local leaders, including Apostle Benjamin Obaji and legal practitioner Mr. Nnaemeka Nwambam, have expressed frustration over the project’s abandonment and the resulting economic hardships.
They have appealed to the Ebonyi State Government to ensure that the contractor returns to complete the work and address the community’s grievances. Despite their efforts, including offering free land for project-related activities, progress remains stalled.
