Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing fuel subsidy payments and delays in the re-operation of the Port Harcourt Refinery.
Atiku’s criticism centers on Tinubu’s approval for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to use 2023 dividends for subsidizing petrol, despite Tinubu’s earlier announcement to end subsidy payments.
He argues that this move reflects poorly on Tinubu’s credibility and highlights a lack of transparency in governance. Atiku also condemned the delays in refinery operations, blaming Tinubu, who is also the Minister of Petroleum Resources, and criticized the NNPCL for worsening fuel shortages and rising prices.
He has called on Tinubu to address these issues to alleviate the impact on Nigerians.
