The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a threat of a nationwide strike if its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is detained by the police.
This comes after an emergency National Executive Council meeting was held in response to a police invitation related to allegations of terrorism financing.
The NLC has stated that while they will cooperate with the police, they are seeking an extension of time for Ajaero to appear. If Ajaero is arrested, the NLC plans to call for an immediate nationwide shutdown, pending further instructions from their leadership.
