Kano govt set up committee to address conflicts in Yoruba community.

The Kano State Government has set up a Reconciliation Committee to address the ongoing conflict within the Yoruba community in the state.

The dispute primarily involves leadership disagreements between the Aare and Oba factions. The committee, which includes academics and a member from the Kano State Emirate Council, is tasked with resolving the conflict by inviting the conflicting parties, gathering relevant submissions, and investigating the causes of the crisis.

The committee is expected to submit its report within four weeks. Prof. Usman Muhammad will chair the committee, with Dr. Ransom Bello as co-chair.

The Special Adviser on Inter-community Relations, Abdussalam Abiola, urged the Yoruba community to cooperate and support the committee’s efforts for a peaceful resolution.
