NDLEAP reveal over 400,000 youths involve in drugs abuse in Enugu state.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed that over 400,000 youths are involved in drug abuse in Enugu State. The information was shared by Mr. Abel Sunu Wadahi, the Enugu State Commander of the NDLEA, during a visit to Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, the chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Wadahi expressed concern about the high rate of drug abuse, which includes substances like cannabis, tramadol, mkpurumiri, and cocaine. To combat this issue, the NDLEA is conducting a sensitization tour across communities, schools, and public institutions under the campaign “Save our Family.” The agency has also introduced a drug integrity check analyzer to help families monitor drug use.

Igwe Asadu has agreed to support the anti-drug abuse efforts as an ambassador, promising to promote awareness and implement measures, including billboards, to address drug abuse throughout the state. He emphasized the importance of involving all traditional rulers in this fight.
