Governor Dr. Peter Mbah of Enugu State has inaugurated the construction of a Centre for Experiential Learning and Innovation at the Enugu State College of Education (Technical). This centre will feature 25 model classrooms, an ICT hub, and an e-library among other advanced facilities. Its purpose is to train teachers in digital innovation, mechatronics, artificial intelligence, and robotics to enhance their effectiveness in the state’s 260 smart schools.
The centre aims to implement experiential learning in primary and secondary education, enabling teachers to design engaging projects that foster practical problem-solving and align with sustainable development goals.
The initiative, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund), is expected to set a benchmark for educational innovation in Nigeria. The Provost of ESCET, Dr. Stella Ekwueme, praised the governor’s leadership and the collaboration with TetFund, noting the project’s potential to transform education in the state and nationwide.
