Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, has clarified that his strong support for the creation of Anioma State does not stem from personal political ambition. Speaking at the Anioma stakeholders summit in Asaba, he emphasized that his focus is on advancing the welfare of his constituents, particularly advocating for Ndokwa land to be considered for the state’s first governorship.
Nwoko highlighted the significant marginalization faced by the Ndokwa region despite its oil wealth and severe environmental degradation.
He argued that creating Anioma State could foster development, akin to the transformation seen in Delta state, and improve political representation.
The summit, attended by local leaders including the Dein of Agbor, HRM Benjamin Keagborekuzi I, aimed to unify Anioma stakeholders in support of the state creation initiative, with resolutions expected to bolster the bill before the Senate.
