The Nigerian government, led by Minister of Defence Dr. Bello Matawalle, has pledged to eradicate bandits and criminal gangs in the northwest region. This commitment follows a recent directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who instructed military leaders, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to relocate to Sokoto and lead operations against the criminals.
On their arrival, the delegation, which included the Chief of Defence Intelligence and other senior officials, was received by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, and the Force Commander of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji. Dr. Matawalle emphasized the federal government’s support for the troops and expressed confidence that the operation would end the terror caused by figures like Bello Turji and other bandits, thereby improving safety in the region.
