In Oyo State, 39 individuals suspected of internet fraud have been sentenced by the Oyo State High Court.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carried out the arrests, and the convicts faced charges including impersonation, cheating, possession of fraudulent documents, and obtaining by false pretenses.
The sentences varied: some received jail terms, while others were given community service and fines. For instance, some were sentenced to community service or fines ranging from N50,000 to N500,000. Vehicles and other items were forfeited by certain convicts. This action was part of a broader crackdown on internet fraud in the region.
