Reps Idem Charges Customs Service on Effective Border Clearance, Anti-Smuggling for the country’s economic stability, security.

Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, emphasized the critical role of the Nigerian Customs Service in ensuring effective clearance of goods and anti-smuggling services.

During a courtesy visit by Customs Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his management team to the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, Idem highlighted the importance of these duties for the country’s economic stability, security, and international standing.

Idem urged the Customs Service to enhance their efforts in managing border activities to bolster revenue and trade competitiveness. He expressed concerns about border security and urged the Customs Service to collaborate closely with other security agencies to ensure comprehensive national safety.

Comptroller-General Adeniyi sought the National Assembly’s support to improve the efficiency and timeliness of customs operations, emphasizing the need for strong collaboration to achieve these goals.
