Yola demands children birth certificate before admitting in primary school.

The Yola South Local Government Area in Adamawa State has announced a new policy requiring children to present birth certificates before enrolling in primary school. This measure aims to boost birth registration in the region.

Abba Bawuro, the Education Secretary of Yola South LGA, emphasized that this policy follows a meeting with 82 head teachers and is intended to ensure that all children are registered before they begin school.

Mallam Lanre Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), highlighted the importance of birth registration for effective planning and provision of social services. He stressed that registering births and obtaining National Identification Numbers (NINs) will facilitate access to various services in the future.

Representatives from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and National Population Commission (NPC) assured that birth registration is free and encouraged parents to take advantage of this opportunity. Johnah Agye, Director of NOA in Adamawa State, reminded parents that the house-to-house birth registration campaign, which started in August, will continue until November.
