EdoDecides2024: Obaseki escorted from INEC office amid protests.

Governor Obaseki was forcibly removed from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office early Sunday morning after a protest led by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Members demanded his exit around 3:30 AM, arguing he had no reason to be present as he is not a candidate in the elections.

Obaseki had entered the premises late at night, positioning himself near the Edo Resident Electoral Commission’s office where results were being collated. As he was escorted out by police, APC National Secretary Surajudeen Basiru condemned his presence as an abuse of office, asserting he should not have been there at all.

Despite attempts by protesters to breach the INEC office, they were kept at bay by security forces. The situation escalated until the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, arrived to manage the scene.
