Sen. Suswan reaffirm his decision to contest PDP nat’l chairman.

Sen. Gabriel Suswan, a national chairmanship aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirmed his commitment to the position during a critical stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi. He emphasized that the North Central region has the right to fill the chairmanship vacancy left by Dr. Iyochia Ayu, aligning with the party’s constitution.

Suswan, who has received backing from the Benue State chapter and conducted consultations nationwide, indicated that the selection of the new chairperson will be made by national leaders, not through elections. He criticized internal party members for their attempts to disrupt unity and organization, citing recent congresses in the state as chaotic.

He rejected rumors of evicting the party from its office, asserting that the party will continue using the facility until a new one is established. Other party figures, including Chief Margaret Ichen and former state chairman Sir John Ngbede, voiced concerns about divisions within the party and criticized attempts to manipulate congress results. Ngbede claimed he was pressured to alter results but refused to comply.
