Tensions are escalating in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area as thugs have blocked the newly sworn-in council chairman from accessing the local government secretariat. This unrest follows the recent local government elections conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), which has seen protests and violence spread throughout the state.
Witnesses report that the thugs, believed to be supporters of former governor Nyesom Wike, are opposing the election results, contributing to a climate of instability. Reports of gunfire have emerged from various other local government areas, indicating a broader pattern of political unrest across Rivers State.
