The Nigeria Police have stated that they will not engage in a media confrontation with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara regarding the ongoing political crisis in the state. In a statement, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi condemned the governor’s allegations, asserting that the police were merely adhering to a court order prohibiting their involvement in local government elections.
Adejobi emphasized the police’s commitment to neutrality and non-interference in political matters, describing the misinformation stemming from Fubara’s comments as unjust and damaging to the integrity of law enforcement. He highlighted the respected track record of the Inspector-General of Police and urged a more decorous approach to political discourse in Nigeria.
