Osun APC file suit against Govt. Adeleke, OSSIEC over upcoming council elections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has filed a lawsuit against Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) over the upcoming local government elections scheduled for February 2025. The suit, numbered Hos/184/2024, challenges the legality of the elections and the disqualification of certain APC candidates by OSSIEC.

The claimants, represented by lawyer Muhydeen Adeoye Galadima, argue that OSSIEC failed to establish a Local Government Election Tribunal, which they believe has deprived them of their rights to contest decisions made by the electoral body. They contend that actions taken by OSSIEC since July 22, 2024, are premature and illegal, seeking declarations to this effect and claiming the amended notice of elections is invalid due to procedural errors.

Additionally, the claimants are requesting N100 million in damages and a public apology for the distress caused by these actions. Galadima expressed confidence in the strength of their case.
