president Akwa Ibom TRC Chief Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, appeal Gov Umo Eno to revoke certificate of Midim clan head, mistakenly bestowed to Chief Paul Ebong.

Say’s Chief Sylvester Ibanga, who was lawfully selected by the community.

The president of the Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers’ Council (TRC), Chief Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, has appealed to Governor Umo Eno to revoke the certificate of the Midim clan head in Abak LGA, which was mistakenly bestowed to Chief Paul Ebong.

Chief Etuk insists that the rightful heir to the clan council of midim clan in Abak LGA is Chief Sylvester Ibanga, who was unanimously selected by the community chiefs. In his appeal, Chief Etuk highlighted the importance of adhering to traditional laws that recognize the authority of leaders chosen by the traditional rulers council.

He described the current situation as a minor error by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, even though there seems to be a perceived corruption but called for the correction of this mistake to ensure that the rightful chief Sylvester Ibanga receives his certificate.

Furthermore, allegations have surfaced suggesting that the paramount ruler of Abak LGA, Chief Saviour Sylvester, may have influenced the ministry’s decision through corrupt practices to benefit financially from Chief Ebong. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of these claims.

Chief Etuk’s appeal underscores the need for the government to rectify this issue to maintain the integrity of traditional leadership in Akwa Ibom State.
