End SARS protesters mark 4th anniversary of brutal killings of innocent youths.

Protesters gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the #EndSARS movement faced violent resistance from police. Many recounted their experiences of being beaten and detained while attempting to honor victims of police brutality from the October 2020 protests.

One protester, speaking from a police vehicle, described being assaulted and having their glasses forcibly removed. The police’s actions raised questions about the legality of peaceful protests in Nigeria. Reports indicate that several demonstrators were arrested during the memorial event.
