In a heated exchange ahead of the 2027 general election, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, has fired back at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Atiku, in a recent statement, had criticized Wike’s actions and suggested that Wike, in his approach to politics, was acting like someone from the “motor park,” implying that his behavior was crude and lacking decorum. He further suggested Wike should return to the motor park where he “rightfully belonged.”
Wike responded forcefully, acknowledging his roots and even embracing the motor park label. “Yes, I admit I came from the motor park. Is there anyone that doesn’t come from the motor park, especially if you don’t support Atiku’s selfish ambition?” Wike declared. He went on to suggest that as a “motor park boy,” he would ensure that Atiku had no chance of securing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the upcoming 2027 elections. Wike’s comments seem to be a direct challenge to Atiku’s influence within the party, signaling that his support base would not allow Atiku to thrive within the PDP.
The exchange highlights the ongoing rivalry between the two prominent PDP figures, with Wike clearly positioning himself as a key player in the party’s future, potentially influencing the direction of the presidential race.
