Segun Sowunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Sowunmi argues that Tinubu’s actions are damaging to the PDP, claiming that the president should have consulted with the party’s elders before making such an appointment. He believes that the situation would improve for the PDP if Wike were removed from his ministerial post and allowed to return to the party.
Sowunmi contends that Tinubu’s unilateral decision to bring Wike into his government has complicated matters, and he stresses that if Wike is reinstated into the PDP, the party would regain its strength and momentum. He pointed out that past leaders, like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, consulted party elders before making such decisions, implying that Tinubu’s approach was flawed.
