The Rivers State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has formally expressed its desire to produce the next President-General of the group, following the death of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
This push is rooted in the rotational leadership structure outlined in Article 11 of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution, which mandates that leadership positions rotate among the seven member states.
The group emphasized Rivers State’s historical contributions to Ohanaeze, highlighting roles such as Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy President-General, and argues that the state’s leadership would ensure continuity and inclusivity for the organization.
The statement, signed by Livingstone Wechie and Barrister Anthony Okolo, calls for adherence to the constitutional guidelines to maintain peace and unity within Ohanaeze.
