School feeding program: Civil society urge Gov. Eno to disband investigative panel.

A Civil Society Organization (CSO) has urged Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom to disband the state’s investigative panel, formed to examine the condition of 26 boarding schools, including the Presbyterian Senior Science College, Ididep.

This follows a viral video exposing the poor state of facilities and substandard meals provided to students. Despite defense from the Education Commissioner, who stated that the government only covers tuition fees, many believe the state must address the crumbling education system.

The CSO called for the implementation of a strategic roadmap from 2020 to 2030, developed under former governor Udom Emmanuel, as the best solution to revitalize education in Akwa Ibom. Additionally, the CSO criticized the composition of the investigative panel, recommending that an independent body be appointed to probe the issue thoroughly.
