…urge N’assembly against passing such budget
By Divine Sam
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s proposed 2025 national budget, urging the National Assembly not to pass it, describing it as “anti-people.” According to the PDP, if the budget is implemented as presented, it will worsen issues such as insecurity, poverty, and hopelessness in Nigeria.
Debo Ologunagba, the spokesperson for the PDP, argued that the president’s budget address resembled campaign rhetoric, filled with unsubstantiated economic statistics, false promises, and unproven claims. The PDP claimed that the budget lacked concrete provisions for key economic drivers and failed to address critical issues like reducing the cost of living, creating jobs, improving industries, and enhancing the value of the Naira.
The PDP expressed disappointment that the budget did not include strategic provisions for reducing the cost of essential goods and services like fuel, food, and electricity, which directly affect the people’s wellbeing. They also emphasized the importance of the National Assembly using its constitutional powers to modify the budget and ensure it prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians and the growth of the economy.
