The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has ordered a significant deployment of police personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful Yuletide period in the state. This initiative aims to address the increased human and vehicular movement during the Christmas and New Year season, which typically involves heightened religious and socio-economic activities.
In a statement signed by his Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Danmamman directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure adequate security coverage, particularly in public places like places of worship, recreational areas, amusement parks, motor parks, and highways. The goal is to provide robust security before, during, and after the festive season.
The CP emphasized that officers should strictly follow the Operation Order for the season, ensuring intelligence-led policing and a visible presence on the streets, with due respect for human rights. He also stressed the importance of security on highways to protect travelers and maintain smooth traffic flow.
As part of the proactive security measures, Danmamman highlighted ongoing operations such as the “Operation Flush” township patrols and regular raids of known black spots to prevent crime and respond swiftly to incidents. He also urged the public to remain law-abiding, refrain from using fireworks to avoid accidents and property damage, and stay vigilant.
Finally, Danmamman reassured the people of Niger State of the police force’s commitment to maintaining security and order during the festive season. He concluded by wishing all Nigerlites, residents, and Christian faithful a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
