The Edo State House of Assembly has approved the 2025 budget, which amounts to N675 billion, for the governor’s assent. This decision followed the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Budget and Project Monitoring during a plenary session in Benin. The chairman of the committee, Sunday Fada (PDP Esan Central), presented the report, noting that the budget is divided into N225 billion for recurrent expenditure and N451 billion for capital expenditure.
Fada explained that the budget increase was made to support the governor’s five-point agenda. The committee reviewed the budget clause by clause and approved an increase from the initial N605.7 billion to N675 billion. The Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, directed the clerk of the house, Mr. Yahaya Omogbai, to send clean copies of the approved budget to the governor for final assent.
