Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo, former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has expressed deep concern over the current state of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In an interview with Channel Television, Okonkwo lamented that Nigerians are dying in desperate attempts to secure basic sustenance, such as struggling for grains of rice and a mere 5,000 Naira, in the public to sustain their families.
He criticized President Tinubu for policies he described as ineffective, which have led to widespread poverty and hunger, leaving many Nigerians struggling to meet their daily needs.
Okonkwo highlighted the tragic stampedes occurring in the country, where more than 70 percent of Nigerians have reportedly died while trying to secure a meal for Christmas and beyond.
Additionally, Okonkwo accused President Tinubu of hypocrisy, pointing out that while the government promises to reduce the cost of living, the president himself is living an extravagant lifestyle.
He also pointed to the increased borrowing under Tinubu’s administration, noting that the current government has borrowed more than the Buhari administration did in eight years, with little visible evidence of infrastructure development.
