Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has signed a N750.28 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year, which was recently passed by the state House of Assembly.
The budget is designed to enhance his administration’s ability to provide better services, with 82% allocated to capital expenditure and 18% to recurrent costs, despite the challenges posed by the national minimum wage increase and pension payments.
Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for the swift approval, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and economy. Major projects initiated in 2023, including road construction and development of hospitals and schools, are expected to be completed by 2025.
