In response to the tragic airstrikes that killed 10 people in Sokoto State on December 25, Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, expressed deep apologies to the victims’ families.
The incident occurred during a military operation targeting a logistics base of the Lakurawa insurgent group.
Shettima extended his condolences, describing the civilian casualties as a rare and deeply saddening outcome of the operation, which was aimed at combating terrorism.
He acknowledged the pain caused and urged continued support for the military, emphasizing the importance of accurate intelligence to avoid future mistakes. The Vice President also reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and criminal elements in the country.
