A significant political development has occurred in Benue State as over 10,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was led by prominent PDP figure, Engr. Julius Inedu, who, along with other influential members, expressed their commitment to the APC’s vision for progress.

The defectors, primarily from Orokam and Owukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area, included notable former lawmakers and party officials. Among them were Hon. Michael Abakpa, a former lawmaker; Hon. Michael Idoko, the immediate past PDP chairman in Ehaje II; James Agene, a long-serving PDP executive; and Hon. Onoja Obute, a former deputy leader of the Ogbadibo Legislative Council.

At a defection ceremony in Ekere Owuka, the defectors symbolically burned their PDP membership cards, signaling their allegiance to the APC. Engr. Inedu expressed hope for development under the APC, calling for others in Ehaje II and Ogbadibo to embrace the party’s vision. He declared the PDP as “dead” in the region and Benue State.

Comrade Austine Agada, the APC State Chairman, and Hon. Philip Agbese, the lawmaker for Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, welcomed the defectors, praising their decision as a move toward transformative leadership and progress. They assured the new members of equal opportunities within the APC and their commitment to unity and development in Benue State.
