Abel Damina, a Nigerian pastor and television evangelist, has claimed that the Catholic Church discourages its members from reading the Bible, arguing that if they did, many would leave because the teachings and practices of the Church would be exposed.
He suggested that the Church only allows members to follow what the priest or “father” says without questioning, stifling deeper engagement with scripture.
In response, Father James A, a Catholic clergy member, dismissed Damina’s statements, calling them laughable. He emphasized that the Catholic Church, which has withstood centuries of persecution, heresies, and attacks, remains the true custodian of the Gospel’s teachings and its interpretation. Father James A humorously expressed disbelief at the notion of Damina “exposing” the Church.
