Tinubu’s tax reform is strictly benefiting his cabals – Gbadebo Rhodes.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for Lagos in the 2023 elections, has criticized the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming that these policies are primarily benefiting a select group of people.

In an interview, Rhodes-Vivour argued that the reforms, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, are causing severe hardship for the majority of Nigerians. He highlighted that more than 70% of people’s income is now spent on transportation and food, and that many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities, such as housing.

Rhodes-Vivour pointed out the growing disparity in wealth, suggesting that the only groups benefiting from the reforms are government officials, bankers, and close allies of President Tinubu. He questioned how many ordinary Nigerians could say they were experiencing positive outcomes from the reforms, criticizing the wastefulness and extravagance within the government amid the country’s economic struggles.

This criticism comes amid soaring inflation rates, a direct consequence of the government’s economic measures.
