A significant legal development has occurred in the ongoing case related to the tragic stampede at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

On Monday, an Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice K.B. Olawoyin, granted bail to three individuals connected to the incident: Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the school’s principal; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM; and Olori Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The three are facing prosecution following a stampede on December 18, 2024, which tragically led to the deaths of at least 35 children. The Magistrate Court in Iyaganku had previously remanded them in custody at the Agodi Correctional Facility, but following arguments from their legal representatives, the High Court granted them bail.

This case has garnered significant attention due to the devastating loss of life, and the granting of bail marks a critical juncture in the legal proceedings.
