Security guard sentence to six month in prison for stealing mattresses worth N450,000 from employer’s house in Ibadan.

A security guard, David Nanbur, has been sentenced to six months in prison for stealing three mattresses worth N450,000 from his employer’s house in Ibadan. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of stealing and malicious damage.

The incident took place on January 5, 2025, at the Babalola Estate, Odo-Ona Elewe area, when Nanbur broke into the house of his employer, Mr. Yusuf Kunle. To access the property, he damaged the ceiling, valued at N30,000, and stole the mattresses.

The Magistrate, Mrs. M.M. Olagbenro, sentenced Nanbur to six months in prison but offered alternatives: a fine of N30,000 or one month of community service. The charges violated Sections 390 (9), 412, and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State.
