Edo state gubernatorial tribunal: APC, PDP exchange war of words.

By Divine Sam

The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is witnessing a heated exchange between the PDP and APC over serious allegations.

The PDP, through their counsel, Ken Mozia, SAN, has claimed that witnesses they planned to call in support of their petition have been threatened, which is affecting their willingness to testify.

These claims have sparked a response from APC’s counsel, Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, who dismissed the accusations, suggesting that the petitioners were aware of what steps to take if their witnesses were threatened.

The PDP is challenging the result of the September 21, 2024, governorship election, which saw Governor Monday Okpebholo of the APC declared the winner. They argue that there was non-compliance with electoral laws and that Okpebholo didn’t secure the highest number of lawful votes.

The case is shaping up to be significant, with allegations of intimidation adding a layer of complexity to the tribunal’s proceedings.
